These are my feelings and perceptions of the 20 Year Reunion and the things here do not necessarily reflect the thoughts of anyone other than myself, so bear with me!

Thank you to everyone who attended!  (For a list of those who attended, click here.)  I think the reunion was a huge success!  We had a good turn-out and everyone seemed to have a great time... some better than others (I won't mention any names!)

On Friday, June 20th, 2003, we met at the Holiday Inn in the lounge area outside the Cattleman's Sports Bar.  There were quite a few of us there early... I think we were ready to jump start the weekend.  By the time the night was over, only a handful of those we were expecting hadn't shown up and we had a few surprises!  Several classmates who had not mentioned coming, showed up.  We hung around, mingled and had a blast getting reacquainted with old friends.

On Saturday, June 21st, 2003, we met at 11:00am at the Unidad Park off College Hills Boulevard.  The group continued to grow as more classmates showed up with their families.  It was a fun time to be in a casual setting and get to enjoy the children who range in age from infant to teenager.  WOW!

On Saturday evening at 7:00 we met at the Holiday Inn Ball Room for dinner and dancing.

We had  a Memorabilia Table in the back that included Ray Denham's sports scrapbook, Stella Galindo's letter jacket, sports programs, BEAT tags, a 1983 Graduation T-shirt, the senior class group picture, and lots of photos.

We wanted to have a Memorial Table dedicated to our classmates who are no longer with us.  Our list grew as we heard of several people we went to school with over the years that have passed away.  We will add their names to the In Memory page as we get more information.  We included a group of photos and a poem written by Ann Vardeman and we hope to get a copy of a picture that Ann painted and post it on her memorial page.

After dinner, Stella and Duffy presided over a short presentation time.  Awards were given to several classmates:

Kenny Klinger for having traveled the greatest distance by plane (all the way from Alaska)!  Susie Strain Shaffer for having traveled the farthest distance by car (from Atlanta, Indiana)!

Allen Nichols received the award for the most children (five) and Larry Korn has the great honor of having the most grandchildren (four and one-on-the-way)!  Go Larry!

When asking around who everyone thought had changed the most, there were a lot who had changed... but no one more than Billy Francis!  Excuse me, Bill Francis!  WOW!

And think for a moment, who would you think will probably NEVER change... yes, you guessed it... Drew Whipple!  Some things (or people) never change!  We love you Drew (just the way you are)!

Marivel Hernandez Torres received the award for having been married the longest... 22 1/2 years... I say it again, WOW!

We showed two videos.  One was a conglomeration of photos put to music.  The song "19 Something" by Mark Willis provided a wonderful  background to many special moments caught on film!  The second video was a copy of the footage and live shots of the Lake View fire, provided by KLST-TV.  A copy of these videos may be available for purchase, let me know if you are interested.  Big thank you to Mike Taylor for providing the video projector!!!

Mel Marble who owns Instant Images was on hand from the beginning of the reunion, providing unbelievable coverage.  Mel took over 160 pictures on Friday night, including mug shots of each classmate that you'll be able to see on the Then and Now pages, but also including many, many candid shots that are incredible.  All of the pictures are available for purchase.  I'll post more information on that this week.

After the presentations and before the deejay made his entrance, Mel and Fred Popple (1982 Lake View graduate) gathered the classmates together for a group photo.  Just getting everyone into place was a chore... we'll post that photo this week as well.  Thank you, Mel, for all your hard work!  We appreciate you and Fred more than you can imagine.

The deejay made his way in to provide a time of much... fun, hilarity, and hooplah!  More about that later!  Thank you Eclipse Mobile DeeJays!

The evening went off without a hitch!  Everyone seemed to be very pleased (Holiday Inn loves us... they had to place a special beer order after Friday nights mixer.  What does that say about our class?) and I am thrilled that it fell together like it did.  I can actually try to sleep now... after my mind quits reeling and my adrenaline level goes back to normal.

Thank you to the Reunion Committee/Supper Club, I couldn't have done it without you!  As Duffy mentioned, we spent a little time talking "reunion", but lots of time just visiting and catching up!  The supper club will continue!  Our committee included:  Carol Jolley Helm

Paula Scarpa Jolley

Larry Korn

Mel Marble

Stella Galindo Patterson

Duffy Martin Sanders

Dee Goodnight Sessom

Leslie Long Taylor

and Me!

Duffy, you were my right arm!  Thank you for everything... if I continue to call you three times a day, it's because I've remembered how much I've missed you over the years and I don't know what I ever did without you!  I don't ever want to forget again!  I love you!

The pictures and more stuff will be posted as the next few days and weeks roll around.  Keep checking back on the website!  See what new and exciting things show up!  Which brings me to my next big Thank You!  Larry Korn, I think you're the greatest!  If I haven't told you enough, I want everyone to know it!  I dreamed of doing this website, I had big ideas, but really didn't know where to begin!  You made this dream a reality and I thank you from the bottom of my heart!  Thank you for your hard work and the use of your talents to make this website possible!

Thank you again to everyone!  I love you all and can't wait for the next time we get together.  Please use this website as a way to keep in touch!  Let us know where you are and what's going on with you!
